Know Your Internet Marketing Customer!
In this article I want to talk to you about something fundamental that’s very important to your bottom line in internet marketing, and marketing in general.
When you’re writing an advertisement, or writing sales copy for your web site, what’s the single most important thing that you should be thinking about? What’s the one thing that’s much much more important than any thing else? (I’m talking the big one here folks!)
Is it your sales pitch? No.
Is it your marketing “hook”? Nope.
Is it all the wonderful features and benefits of your product? Sorry, it’s not this either.
Is it grammar? OK, that one is (Viagra Without Prescription) just plains silly is for yes!
No, it’s not any of these. The most important thing, really the only important thing that you should be thinking about is your potential customer.
The customer, it’s all about the customer. Repeat that with me…..
The customer, it’s all about the customer. Got it? Good.
Speaking of the customer, who are they? What are they interested in? What do they like or dislike? What are they looking for in a product and how can you give THAT to them? How can you connect with them in a way that let’s them know that you have the answer to their needs?
I could spout marketing tactics and theories at you till the end of time, but unless you sit down and take a hard look at your audience, what they want, and how they want it, all the tactics in the world are useless.
Marketing is a psychological game. Put yourself in your customer’s head. Think like they would. Realize what they want and then give it to them in the most simple, straightforward, and easy to understand manner possible.
That’s a major secret to marketing and one that a lot of professionals don’t even bother with. Of course, now you and I are ahead of the game;-)
I can’t tell you how often I see this when I do any sort of marketing consulting. Time and time again I’ll see an entire business that has been built, product created, web site designed, advertising budget prepared. ALL without anyone stopping and asking the simple question…. does the customer want what we have to sell.
It seems silly, but most businesses, especially internet businesses, don’t stop to ask that question. The owner thinks THEY know what the customers want without bothering to ask them first.
Don’t put yourself in that situation. Never start a new project or business around a project until you’ve got a clear indication that there is a market for it!
